Our Core Values

Our school life is centred around our Catholic virtues:

Our virtues influence our approach to everything we do and our attitude towards others. Every member of our school community holds these virtues with the utmost importance. These virtues should be visible in our work with others, at playtimes, in the classroom and within our community. They are steeped in gospel teaching and reflect the kind of person Jesus was and the person he wants us to be.

Our Services and Liturgies

Throughout the calendar year, we hold a number of services and liturgies. It is important for our students to engage within our services to deepen their faith, so we have seen numerous year groups performing wonderful liturgies.

The liturgies we have done are:

• Advent wreath blessing
• Carols around the crib
• Ash Wednesday Service (Y4)
• Stations of the Cross (Y6)
• The Crowning of Our Lady (Y2)
• A liturgy for St Peter and St Paul (Y1)
• Regular masses in school

Collective Worship and Liturgies

As a Catholic school, it is important that we foster a sense of community and develop our connection with God. We aspire for our children to know, understand, and love God. As such, collective worship is an important part of our ethos, aims, and relationships. Collective worships allows us to develop closer as a community and increase our connection with God and can only strengthen our faith.

We also run a Wednesday Word liturgy club. 

Weekly Gospel Assemblies

Every week, we hold a Gospel assembly. We use the Mark 10 Mission Resources to learn about the Gospel for Sunday and we always sing a song of praise relating to the Gospel. 

Our Four House Saints

Maximilian Kolbe

Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Catholic priest who volunteered to die in place of a man called Franciszek Gajowniczek in the Auschwitz camp in 1941. He was canonised in 1982 by Pope John Paul II and declared a Martyr of Charity.

Carlo Acutis 

Carlo Acutis was a British teenager of Italian Ancestry. He was known for his devotion to the Eucharist and his battle with leukaemia, which he sadly lost at the age of 15. He is currently up for canonisation, although he has been beatified.

Fr John Augustus Tolton

Fr. John Augustus Tolton was the first Black priest in the United States. Originally born into slavery, he was rejected from every North American Seminary he applied to before being ordained in Rome in 1886. He met resistance during his years as a Black Catholic priest, but, overtime, his following grew. He eventually gave Mass at the Colored Catholic Congress in Washington D.C. He maintained a prominent profile within the Catholic Church before his death. He is currently in the process of becoming beatified.

Elizabeth Ann Seton

Elizabeth Ann Seton was a Catholic religious sister and educator in the United States. She founded the country's parochial system. She also founded the country's first American congregation of religious sisters, the Sisters of Charity. Numerous congregations can trace their origins back to the Sisters of Charity. In 1952, a miracle involving the healing of a 4-year-old girl from leukaemia was attributed to Seton after a nun sought Seton's help. The miracle was a factor in the beatification of Seton and Seton was beatified by Pope John XXIII on March 17th, 1963. She was canonised on the 14th of September 1975 by Pope Paul VI. 

Daily Prayer

We say prayer in the morning, at lunchtime, and at the end of the day. 

Our morning prayer:

Oh my God,

I give to you today

All that I think and do and say.

All my work and all my play

I will give to you today.

Our lunchtime prayer:

Bless us O' Lord as we sit together

Bless the food we eat today

Bless the hands that made the food

Bless us O' Lord, Amen

Our end of the day prayer:

God Our Father, I come to say

Thank you for your love today

Thank you for my family

And all the friends you give to me

Guard me in the dark of night

And in the morning send your light

Amen.
